Did The Scary Thing
These pieces had been brewing in my studio for over a year. Different experiments. Different directions. Some painted over old work. Some went through three versions before they finally decided what they wanted to be.
Then I left my 9–5.
And suddenly, these pieces had somewhere to go.
Did The Scary Thing is for the moments when life asks something of us. When we’re facing uncertainty, navigating change, or finding the courage to keep going even when we don’t know exactly how things will turn out.
Sometimes doing the scary thing means taking a leap. Sometimes it’s simply getting through a difficult season, finding your footing again, and choosing to move forward.
These paintings hold that tension between the hard things we carry and the colour, possibility, and life that can exist alongside them.
I did the scary thing. These paintings are part of that journey.
